Hello and welcome to Prescription of Hope.

Hello and Welcome to my blog, Prescription of Hope.
My name is Heather Thomas. I am from Birmingham, Alabama and I am 26 years old. I was diagnosed ten years ago with an autonomic nervous system disorder, Dysuatonomia. In recent years I have also been diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. In the the ten years since my diagnosis, my life has changed in ways that I never would have imagined.
I had imagined accomplishing so many things by the time I was this age. I had planned on graduating from college, beginning my career, marriage, and family. I did not plan on using a wheelchair or spending weeks in bed. I didn't plan on still living at home and depending on my parents to take care of me. I did not plan for this "monster" called Dysautonomia. But do any of us really plan on disaster? No, but God provides a light in the darkness. I try to keep my dreams and hopes alive despite the reality that has come to be.
There are many times when I don't understand God and question His plan but ultimately I know that He is my loving Father and protector and He is fighting this illness with me. I have been taught time and time again that God's gift of hope is the anchor of my soul and no matter what occurs, I hope for a better tomorrow in God's hands.
I began this blog to share my joys and despairs that not only come with life but those that can sometimes be unique to a 20-something coping with a Chronic Illness. My story may be unique but my feelings that I share on my blog are universal and I believe that anyone can relate to my journey no matter where they are in life or what their situation may be.
I am a college student at the University of Alabama, majoring in Psychology. I hope to one day use this illness to help others cope with struggles of their own. As a girl with a Chronic Illness, God had been so good to me. I am blessed with a wonderful family and caring friends. God's gift of hope is unending and abounding. I hope that I can share that gift of hope with you as you read my thoughts and words.
Thank you for visiting.
Much love.
Heather
